active  Topic # 1513  Using PIAF or SrcEdit with iziBasic

I've tried usind both PIAF and SrcEdit as my source editor but when I switch to iziBasic to compile, the code isn't available for compiling in the dropdown list. Should I be able to do that? I also wasn't able to compile from within either of those two programs. Should I be able to do that? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hello Bob,

Make sure that the source code filename is of that kind MyPgm.ibas and that the very first line of this source code is exactly this one:
' MyPgm.ibas

Cheers,

Let me precise: don't miss the ' character (in red in the previous line).

Cheers,

I got it working, but I don't know how, exactly. If you'd like you can read my progress/process below. Thanks for your time!

Bob

------------------------------------------

Still no luck with seeing my code in iziBasic when written in PIAF. I'm using a LifeDrive running Garnet 5.4.8 if that helps at all.

I copied the code from PIAF and pasted it in to memo pad and now I can see it in iziBasic and it compiles. It shows in the list with the § preceding it, as it should being that its from the memo pad. I also have three other files in the list, one of which is code that was made with ViziBasic. The other two are code that I installed from downloads. An interesting thing that I did find was that the three files that I see in iziBasic also show up in PIAF and SrcEdit. In fact they are the only *.ibas files in the lists.

Ok, I got it to work. I think it was a problem with PIAF and SrcEdit, or maybe my file. Once I went back to both of those programs I wasn't able to see my code in the open list. Then I re-copied it back to PIAF from the memo pad and it showed up in both editors lists. I'll keep trying different things to figure out what exactly happened.

Hello Bob,

I'd say with a 99% probability that you named your Piaf or SrcEdit file different from MyPgm.ibas (missing the trailing .ibas extension)...

I'm pretty sure that's not the case because when I copied and pasted the code in its entirety to the memo pad without making any changes it worked.

The odd thing about it is that after copying it to the memo pad I lost its reference in both of the other editors open lists and I didn't save it in either of these two editors after copying it to the memo pad.

Thanks for you reply,

Bob
