iziBasic and Palm TX model-specific incompatibilities |

Dear all,
I have been forwarded issues with the Palm Tx when using iziBasic.
Here are a few of them:
First issue
iziBasic and applications made with it seem to crash (or freeze with a white screen requiring a soft reset) when an application which was run just before launching them changed the screen mode to less that 65k colors.
Launching iziBasic from the SD card does not solve 100% the issue but it should run without crashing about 50% to 75% of the time (don't ask me why!).

Second issue
Using the SCROLLBAR() function causes the Palm TX to crash into the black void of doom and reset.

I have been searching and searching why, checking over and over iziBasic's source code why these issues and never found a single clue since more than one year for the first problem reported to me and since a few days for the second one.
The same tests were done on the following devices:
- Palm Vx
- Sony Clié N770C
- Palm Tungsten C
- Palm Simulator
- Palm Emulator
And all tests would run very smoothly when they would lead to crashes with the Palm TX.
So, this Palm TX has model-specific incompatibilities when using iziBasic that I have not been able to find and eliminate so far (this is very frustrating for me, almost as much as for you poor owners of this device).

I do thank you for all of the work that you have put into iziBasic and the long nights that you have put into it while trying to squash this bug. I also thank your wife for letting you test on her TX. I do understand that it must be a device specific issue, as it functions flawlessly on CLIE TH55, CLIE TJ27 and Palm Tungsten E (1). Should you ever happen across a solution for the TX, I would be most grateful as I am sure a number of other users would be.
A recommendation that I can make for any iziBasic users is that if they run NO software that has to run at a lower than 64k color level (ie, some games), then they can run Igor Nestorov's YAHM along with Alex Pruss' Force16 hack. With this set up, there will be no resets (haven't done anything with the scroll bar personally).
If you ever run out of things to do (kidding here, I know you are busy) I would love to perhaps try a build that functions as though the PP compiler does being called by PIAF and see if that eliminates the issue.

A question to issue 1:
does the problem happen when Launching the application on a TX OR when the Application was created on a TX? |

btw, as i installed the full version, my TX did a reset (with loading bar!?)
after finished Hotsync.

Hi Doeni,
Not sure why this would happen, as I have only hot synced my TX maybe once or twice, and it wasn't to install iziBasic.
I wonder if it could have been another app acting up at the end of the hot sync and it just happened to occur when you installed iziBasic.
To test this theory, you could try deleting iziBasic from RAM and re-installing via Hot Sync. I have had no problems installing it via bluetooth transfer or installation from SD card (using Resco Explorer).
