active  Topic # 1490  way of doing a listbox control?

Is there a way to do a listbox control in iziBasic?

What I mean is a control similar to a POPUPCHOICE, but showing N items at a time in a box (with a scrollbar as needed).

If it's not yet possible in iziBasic, it would be at the top of my (admittedly long) wish list. ;^)

Hello Dave,

Just give a look to the [Open Project] form in ViziBasic, this window simulates pretty well a listbox control, except for the frame around the listbox (that could easily be drawn with a BOX statement).
Up & down arrows will appear when needed (meaning, you need to have more than 8 different projects - for testing purpose, just take one and save it under different names).
This simulated listbox is just made of buttons which have no frame and a little bit of iziBasic code to manage it.

Whenever something is not native in iziBasic, "invent the wheel"

Since I recently got the same kind of request for tabs, I might start to write some kind of a "how to design extra controls" reference, and put that in the wiki.
This will be after a first job I am currently doing on PP applets.

Cheers,

I wonder if it might be interesting to create a library that will allow for easy creation/management of these types of "widgets"?

For custom controls, that would be handy.

However, for a standard control like a listbox, it sure would be nice to have it built into iziBasic like the other GUI controls - much easier to learn and use.

(Same with sliders, but they're not nearly as common as listboxes)

Some kind of library for "widgets", extensions (like HTTP, IR, 320x480...) is a very good idea.

Then, the most appropriate ones could be selected and included in the future releases of iziBasic.

This is a good way to share and help in developing iziBasic
