active  Topic # 1477  Menu (MBAR) question

Hello everyone.

I have an izibasic app that uses an MBAR type menu resource. The user can tick the title bar to select one of several options.

Is there a way to detect when the menu has been opened? Doevents and Menuitem do not return valid menu events until the user ticks an option on the menu list.

This creates a problem for me because my program updates the screen every few hunded millisecs. When the menu is displayes, all screen writes go to the active menu screen, thereby overwriting the menu. If I could detect when the menu has been opened, I could temporarily turn off my screen writes.

I have tried an applet that calls the evgetevent api but it never returns a menu event, only pen and key events. It appears that izibasic is trapping all but those. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello JoeV,

This used to work in the past. It seems that the latest version of iziBasic has some backward compatibility issue on this topic.
I am aware of this problem since a couple of months and I did not succeed yet to figure out where the error is in the iziBasic code...
Sorry for the inconveniance!

I could still ship you the previous version of iziBasic to solve this issue, at least to test it. But all other enhancements and fixes would not be available for this application until I release a fix.

Cheers,

Thanks Aldweb,

At least you are aware of it and I look forward to your next release.

In the meantime,I can solve the problem by using pget to check for the menu border. This is not a perfect solution since each menu has a different border location, but it does work.

Hello Joev,

I am getting mad with this bug. I just cannot find it!

The workaround you found is indeed very smart. Wonderful!

Cheers
