Alarm ? Can i set it ? |

Hi, just a short question regaring iziBasic 6
Is there an easy way to set an Alarm in a palm hand held ? So instead of just showing an Alarm on the screen, it will play a pre-recorded wav-file. So I don't have to pick up the palm every time, just listen and take action!
I know that playing wav files is possible but.. How to set an Alarm and make it play my wav-file that is my problem.
Is it possible to do within iziBasic ?

Hey Bosse, I'm not the authority, but I have some thoughts.
I don't think iziBasic can set the alarm by itself. But I think I read that a PP Applet, built into your iziBasic app, could do it. I haven't gotten to the level of a PP Applet, so you'd have to ask someone else how.
And for WAV files, again, I haven't done this yet, but Aldweb's manual says that WAV files are built in to the app at compilation time.
If you want to play an external WAV file, you might be able to use the RUN command to launch a media player and feed it a parameter to play your file.
Lastly, what you describe sounds like a program that I rely on - mVoice. I can record memos and set a alarms for them.
And if I'm completely wrong, I'll but-out and sit quietly in the corner.
Ciao, Bill |

HI, Bill and thanks for the info. I don't want to invent the wheel again, so I will try to find the program you describe. If not, I'll have to look for the PP Applet.

Hello,
With iziBasic, you will indeed need a PP applet to set the alarm. Playing a WAV resource will then be very easy§ with the adequate iziBasic statement. Designing the WAV resource is a little bit more complicated, I only know how to do this with Pilrc or by hand-coding this resource with Bird, but I am not an expert at all in designing music and WAV files...
Cheers
