active  Topic # 1426  How can I write to Memo Pad PIM?

Hi, I'm nearly ready to release the first version of my simple baseball scoring app, but I want to implement the ability to export game results to the Memo Pad PIM before I do.

I know this was somewhat discussed in Topic #1373, but I need further clarification and/or help.

I've been able to create my own file with OPEN/OUTPUT and have SECUREFILES set to OFF so I can access other creator ID's databases.

I downloaded Palmsource's a68 Companion PDF and searched for 'Memo Pad' and 'Memos'. I will check into them again, but nothing seemed to be what I need.

Further, I copied Memo Pad's pdb file to my SD card and checked it out. Aside from a bit of gobbledy'gook, then all the catagories, and finally the Memos themselves, I could see no obvious structure.

I've come across a couple PDB utils and will see if they can help me figure out the Memo Pad file structure.

Further, if deciphering the Memo Pad pdb proves to much for me, being able to create a DOC file to be read by other doc editors/readers would be acceptible.

Browsing the files on my Treo, I see those have are of REAd/TEXt type. I know iziBasic only works with DATA files, but is there a PP Applet I could plug in to do that?

Thanx,
Bill

I just found Aldweb's Memo Titles demo app. I can get some mileage (kilometer-age...?) out of that.

But I'm sure I'll still have some questions.

Thanx.

I got it!

Aldweb's app and a few more minutes studying the manual did the trick.

I am very, very happy. I should have my app out in a couple days.

Thanx for iziBasic Aldweb, and to everyone else to help answer my questions.

Hello Colonel Kernel,

The iBrainF*ck new iziBasic sample application writes to the MemoDB, and its source code can be downloaded here.

Don't thank us too much, you most of the time answer yourself to your own questions!

Cheers,
aldweb
