active  Topic # 1419  aldweb using bad words?

27/05/2006 @ 15:27

PalmGear refused to reference my new "iBrainF*ck" applicaton because of the name!
And this even though, I took care to replace a vowel with a * to avoid the chocking word...

So, if you friends don't mind, I will rename it "iBrčneFoc" (pronounced the same in French as the above version, but with a meaning in French which cannot be refused!).

Cheers,
aldweb

Friends, I need your help.
Which version do you think PalmGear will accept?

1. International phonetic spelling:
[i:breinf^k]

2. French words with almost the same pronunciation (in French! in English I don't really get the resulting pronunciation but I feel it's just the same too):
iBreineFoc
iB is a shortcut for iziBasic, then, in French, a "reine" is a queen and a "Foc" is a Jib (a type of sail)

Cheers,
aldweb

Choice #1... the international phonetic spelling (looks cool and still has that play on words)

I had not thought of this one that needs to take the English words with no special meaning in this case, translate them to French, pronounce the resulting sequence, translate back to English as from the heard result, and get the real meaning.
This is quite "brain f*cking"

I'd try to stay close to the original:

iBrainF-ck
iBrainFck
iBrainFak
iBrainFaq
iBrainFuk

iBrainF-ck
iBrainFck
iBrainFuk

I am afraid that PalmGear would still refuse these names...

iBrainFak
iBrainFaq

These should pass PalmGear's control, thanks for the suggestion.

Now, I have to make up my mind on this topic...
