Hi
I am rather new to programming. I accidentally picked up a book on PocketC and found it interesting so I bought it & the s/w. Have been writing little stuff on PocketC (nothing major

Last week I discovered iziBasic and its rather cool Could you recommend me some books that would teach me more indepth about this program?

Thanks so much. Incidentally, this is a great site!

The iziBasic's user manual is so complete and so clear that no book was written to overpass its weaknesses that there are not since it is an excellent user manual...

Apart from kidding, iziBasic is a much jounger product than PocketC and I don't know of any book that was written (yet?). But I still believe that the user manual (more than 100 pages!) is quite self sufficient to get started.

Cheers,
aldweb

I believe the iziBasic Manual is complete, however I did pick up a book on BASIC at a Garage Sale that proved to be useful. Also a book on Pascal wont Hurt

Dear All
I found this site that allows you to download a free electronic copy of the BASIC book by Dartmouth College - http://www.computer-books.us/basic_1.php

Cheers

Hello,

A few more references about Basic programming.
My first discovery of programming was with my very first computer, being the TRS-80 Pocket Computer. Its user manual was the best introduction to programming and Basic programming that I have ever seen. It can be found online here: http://www2.asub.arknet.edu/wade/pc1manual.htm
Some of iziBasic's specificities when compared to other modern ports of Basic, like the mapping of the A() and A$() arrays with the A-Z and A$-Z$ variables, come from this experience I got with these pocket devices of the 1980's

Then, another good starting point is WikipediA, here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BASIC_programming_language

Cheers,
aldweb

Great resources here...

I agree, Aldweb has done a great job with the iziBasic manual!

Here is another resource that I stumbled across today:
http://www.nos.org/htm/course.htm

The site is NOS: Online Course Material for Certificate in Computer Application. I haven't really checked it out much, but first glance looks promising.

PS... my link probably won't work (I'm trying the correct steps, but on a Mac) but I purchased a $55 USD PC so I will start posting my links on it when it joins the internet :)

Regards,

Here is the great link found by bh77a: http://www.nos.org/htm/course.htm

bh77a, if you cannot use the different buttons with your browser, you may very encode tags manually. Here is how:
(B)bold(/b)
(I)italic(/I)
(U)underline(/U)
(P)monospaced font(/P) (useful for source code snippets)
(L)link(/L)
Replace "(" with "[" and ")" with "]" in the above lines (I had to do it this way so as not to get the tags interpreted).

Cheers,
aldweb
