active  Topic # 1333  More Bird Confusion

I'm posting this here because I'm trying to use Bird to create my resouce files for use with iziBasic.

Can I import graphics and other objects into Bird... or will Bird only put things in the resource file that you create in Bird?

Thanks for any help.

If you want to import graphics and/or other objects from a PC, you have different ways:

1. for images only, you may copy the image (BMP format for sure, other formats I don't remember) on an external storage card (SD, MS) and then use a tool, TbmpEdit is a good candidate, to convert the image to a Tbmp resource format that can then be edited with Bird
2. for images and other objects as well, Wave sounds, forms, etc... you may use Pilrc on the PC that will generate some resource file and then import the generated resource file to Palm's main memory storage (by HotSync) and work it from there with Bird

Sorry for just now replying to this post but I've been away...

Hope you guys will continue to help me get going with iziBasic... (Learning to use Bird seems to be the hardest thing for me now.)

Now my questions...

1 - Tbmp sounds very unstable on the SourgeForge at http://tbmpedit.sourceforge.net/

2 - Am I understand correctly that Pilrc will also convert graphics to a resource file?

3 - Once I have a graphic or sound file converted to the Palm Resource format... and have it in my Palm TX's main memory (by Hotsync) how do I then get it into Bird?

thanks for any help - Will

To Be Honest tbmpEdit is unstable but works well... (Since you have a T|X You will have to ignore the first message and click "ignore" when it asks you to reset. It is what I use...

Aldweb may be a little more of the "Brain" when it comes to Pilrc. I belive that is what he used to make ibChristmas, and if I diddnt see the source myself I wouldnt think it was done in BASIC

I don't really use PilrC anymore, I used to before doing onBoard programming

Now, I import bitmap images on my SD card.
Then do the conversion to a resource using TbmpEdit. Final tuning is done within Bird because it crashes much less than TbmpEdit.
It is much more fun to do it this way
And, iBChristmas was made this way

Nevertheless, using PilrC is not difficult. It builds a resource file (.PRC) that just needs to be hotsynched to your device. This resource file, whatever it holds, can be injected in an iziBasic project as is, with no change, using the adequate compiling directive
