PC Emulator to test iziBasic or must you put on Palm |
30/11/2005 @ 04:51 by Will_3
|
1 - Is there a Palm Emulator that comes with iziBasic or the ViziBasic utility?
2 - Or must I transfer the program to my Palm Treo after each program modification for testing?
3 - Does the Compiler run on the PC or on the Palm?
4 - How does iziBasic compare to HB++ ??
thanks for any help.

Will -
I can help with some of your questions. I am not associated with aldweb -- simply a user of iziBasic and ViziBasic.
1) There is not an emulator that comes with iziBasic or ViziBasic. Palm has an emulator (older versions of the operating system) and a simulator (later versions of the palm operating system) You would need the simulator. You install it on your Windows computer.
2) One of the onboard editors that aldweb recommends is Piaf. It is found on the PPCompiler.org site. It is freeware and works very well. I have a wireless keyboard for my T3 -- that works very well.
3)iziBasic and ViziBasic run on the Palm. If you have the simulator (from palm) you can do you development on your PC.
4) I cannot help here. Never used HB++.
I suspect that aldweb will also reply to you concerning your questions.
Hope this helps

Edit with TLPDB.exe best editor I found for PC source to palmsim.
Write code, drag to palmsim, run it, then if working, grag to your hotsync/quickinstaller |

Hello Will_3,
In addition to the very good answers provided (thank you guys, it is a real pleasure for me to see people come and help each others here), may I suggest you to read iziBasic's manual. In the last version of this manual, there is a huge and complete appendix on this topic.
Cheers, aldweb |

Richard,
Yes, very helpful.
I don't think we can communicate other than via the forum so pardon these off topic questions everyone.
Have you done much development for the Palm with iziBasic?
I have a Treo 600 and will trade it soon. What do you suggest?
I'm new to this so pardon my dumb questions... is a T3 a Tungsten ?
What is the differenc in a Tungsten version and the Treo 600 or 650?
What provicers offer the Tungsten? I use Verizion and I don't think they do.
I've got more questions but I'll make those seperate subjects.
I'm looking forward to working with iziBasic.
Thanks again for the help.

ihatch,
Thanks for your comments.
It has been some time since I have programed but let me ask you...
You say write code and drat fo palmsim...
... but don't you need to compile it first? Or does the palmsim understand izibasic and do the compiling for you?
I would think the proceedure would be to... - create source code using the TLPDB.exe editor you suggested... - then compile it... - then drag it to the palmsim
btw... does the iziBasic compiler to run on the PC?
thanks again for the help.

Aldweb,
Thanks for your comments. I'll work my way through the manual but I'll be posting a few questions till I get going.
I'm excited about using your program.

I have a Treo 650, in Feb there will be a new Windows PE/CE version I was waiting for, but I think I will stick with Treo 650 and Palm. I have sprint/Treo 650 and love the phone. A shame they are going Windows way, I did that before this phone and nothing but trouble and SLOW..
