IZI on the Fossil watch? |
12/09/2005 @ 00:52 by Nick
|
Hey, has anybody got any experience using izi with this...
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00077ALQ4/ref=dp_ln_ed_1/002-1739255-5718411
Ideally I'd like to plug it into some usb or irda kbd, but that may be too ambitious.
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Nick |

There is no reason why iziBasic should not work with this "almost standard" Palm OS device At least, some of my other applications do work on the Fossil watch, Speedy for instance
Now, writing some source code on such a device can only be a very laborious task ... not only because of the difficulty in inputing the source code itself (unless you indeed succeed to plug into it some external keyboard) but also because you might need a magnifying glass to read it

If You dont mind me installing it on a seconed device(I just have to ask... Dont want piriacy accusiations). I dont mind doing the first Official Beta test on the Fossil Watch. If any developers out there want me to test their applications on it Just send me a PM, I will be happy to do it. And aldweb if yOu need any new versions of iziBasic or LaFac tested on it it would be my Pleasure BTW. The only thing I dont like about that article on Amazon.com is the Price.... I Payed 199.99 for mine (Plus free shipping(a.k.a 3-4 weeks)I tracked it today and it is about 35 miles away in Ft Lauderdale, Florida.... Today it will come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Many thanks for this info. I will order the watch regardless, and will wait to see if the 'Beta Tester' has any luck.
Cheers (and good luck, for all our sakes!)

First of All... The "Beta-Tester" Has a name,(Ktimaster or Keith will do). P.S. This is a joke... Next, I recieved the Watch today and it Came Neatly bundled with the PalmDesktop CD and even an Extra Micro Stylus!!!. I was afraid I would Swollow it, so I am happy it came with an extra. Aldweb was not kidding about the screen size and text entry. The unit has the option to use Grifitti2 or their own version of software called Jot. The unfortunate part is for those of us whi use PIAF to edit the source files, Dont do it!!! The screen buttons at the bottom dont show up correctly and the Micro fonts dont work well with this. Also I connected it to my Belkin Wireless Keyboard and it Worked Flawlessly (Except when it came to finding a way to prop it up) <Drum Roll> And I am sure everyone wants to know if iziBasic and PP Work on it... The answer is YES!!!. I found no issues in compileing a Source file(Written on My Tungsten E|2). It worked like a charm. The only piece of advice I will give if you plan to Make applications for these watches is USE LARGE FONTS!!!
Just a Few Specs if You intend to try an app -USE LARGE FONTS -This is an OS 4.1 Device -Not an ARM Processor -160 x 160 Grayscale Screen
I dont mind testing any Applications you write to insure they are Fossil Compliant (The fossil SDK Advises that you not test on their Emulator do the lack of an HAL. They say to just put it on the Real Device)
Well there it is, Hope it Helps |

Keith, just for the fun of it, and the feeling of being real geeks , why don't you send one or few photos of your watch running iziBasic?
Cheers, aldweb |
