active  Topic # 1102  izibasic Manual not in PDF?

Hi! Is there a source for the izibasic manual in DOC or in HTML to convert it and carry it on the Palm for reference?

I know that I can use RepliGo or AdobeAcrobat, but as I see it, a simple html or doc could be faster to consult.

Any idea?

Adobe Acrobat Writer allows you to save the PDF file as an RTF file which can then be opened in MS Word and re-saved in any format. I am not sure if the Acrobat Reader also has this functionality. Try going to File > Save as..

I use Aportis Doc Converter to change it from pdf to pdb and it works. Unfortunatly, the images are not saved and you do have to edit some of the text to get rid of non-print characters.

But, then I have it on the palm everywhere I go.

Hello,

Currently, the "documentation master" is in Microsoft Word format.
I then use PDFCreator (http://sector7g.wurzel6.de/pdfcreator/) to convert it to the PDF format.
The main missing feature in this tool is hyperlinks to allow jumping easily in the PDF documentation.
Then, I use Adobe Reader for Palm on my Tungsten C. But, the scrolling and search feature are very slow.

I am open to all suggestions to upgrade the format of this documentation, especially now that it is about 100 pages big. Whoever wants the original Word file to work directly on the source file may ask it to me. Then, I will be very happy to receive a better procedure to provide this user manual in any prefered format.

Cheers

Well, Im currently woking on a QUICK REFENCE GUIDE for IZIBASIC, extracting blocks of text from the PDF, and converting them to HTML, but this is so much time consuming...

So, If you can send a copy of the Word document, you know where to locate me.

My plan is to convert it to iSilo (this reader supports jumping between hyperlinks), or Palm(DOC) format and play with the bookmarks.

Then, of course, this document will be published here (or wherever you define) to our izibasic users's community.

I will be glad to convert it to Adobe Acrobat format, complete with hyperlinked table of contents and an index. I will neet the original file in Microsoft Word 97 format, failing which in .RTF format.

If someone would post the TXT manual that would be great. I hate PDF. Rather ^F command ENTER.. I think others would save time and download it too.

And last. A quick ref for izibasic. That is VERY needed, I spent a weekend PDFing for commands and jumping back and forth to example source code to get a simple program up. And I thought, there is no quick ref..

Please post a quick ref, I can export the PDF manual to RTF myself..

Well,

Before the manual was weak... and nobody complained but for a more complete manual.

Now, everybody seems to find it too fat and in the bad format (PDF)!

Then, what should I do? Send you all guys the manual and have you work on all your versions? Or should we define together one or two preferred formats?

Personally I vote for:
1) PDF with hyperlinks (what software do I need to do it myself in the future... not to bother you for each single upgrade?)
2) some format on the Palm.
2)a) Quick Reference Card only?
2)b) or full manual converted in a format to define? Why not use the DOC format? What would be best?

Cheers

I have posted the iziBasic docs on the iziBasic Yahoo group files section in Plucker format. It's not perfect but it beats the Adobe Reader for Palm.
