Tungsten E Troubles |

I got a tungsten E and have converted one of my programs to high res with a 16 colour bit depth. The graphics are fine but the buttons act as if the program was low res, in terms of x,y coordinates. If I bring up a message box or notice box, the text is to large and most of the box is off the screen. I used:
color 4
s=highres(1)
to set the mode... do I have to set anything else? or is izibasic a little wonky in highres? |

Leonard,
Not all statements can work in High Res, this is not an iziBasic issue but a Palm OS one!
Then, High Res cannot be set once for all in a source code. It should be set, apply the statement, then unset.
The only way I know to do this fine is to go by try & check the result... But maybe is there a smarter way?

Well, here is what I have found so far:
I can not change to high-res in the middle of a program. I have to define high-res at the very begining and then everything works correctly. Even your Nekocat program has the same problems, if you set small images. But, if you exit and run the program again, everything is fine; you save the states and define them at the begining.
One of the problems, is that, the windows for message box, notice box, etc... run off the screen, so you can't see the buttons or the whole message. This also means you can't cancel the window.
Another problem, all the images appear on a quarter of the screen (upper left quarter) and that acts as the whole screen.
Also, the x,y coordinates are all 0-160, but that I'm guessing is normal.
Just wanted to tell you, so that you know, in case Nekocat works for your palm.
Setting high-res at the begining is a good solution for my program. |

Hello Leonard,
I have a Tungsten C which is a very close device from the Tungsten E. And I have none of the troubles you report here.
Could you send me by e-mail some print-screens of what you see? Because I have difficulties to apprehend what is happening, especially for my NekoCat application 
Nevertheless, setting high resolution once for all is not recommended at all by Palm OS. What you get for MESSAGEBOX and NOTICEBOX is expected in this case and there is nothing that can be done but setting HIGHRES(1) when it is needed and resetting HIGHRES(0) afterwards.

Non ce n'est pas built in ... il te faut un logiciel ... comme 'Snap' qui est en freeware me semble t il ... |

Leonard,
Snap is a great French freeware, it does work in my Palm Tungsten C. Most snapshots of my applications were made with it.
I don't know if the help file was translated to English, don't hesitate to ask if you have trouble with it.
You also can give a look to ScreenShot by Linkesoft. It is a shareware, with this great feature of allowing to preview images and delete those that you don't want to transfer to the PC.
