Some things I miss ... |

I have to say that iziBasic runs quickly, it has a really nice development environment, and a very good manual. But there are things I miss in iziBasic, like dropdown lists working with arrays. ListChoice is too limited and difficult, both to work with and to use. Another thing is that a textfield only can handle 62 chars. I would be happy with the doubIe, but I also wish that it would be possible to use MegaStrings with textfields. And then there is VFS support.
Keep up the GOOD work! I know you must have worked hard to this far. :)

Hello Peter,
You have already digged very deep in iziBasic to report such wishes
LISTCHOICE is something I have wanted to improve since version 2 of iziBasic after I left it in this state for releasing version 1. Dropdown lists in Palm OS are designed in such a way that they are a nightmare for me! The use of TEXTFIELD with the MegaString is on my wish list, not to say on my to do list. VFS support is something I have been thinking about for a little while, but I don't really know how to implement it.
Overall, iziBasic cannot give access to everything provided by the Palm OS APIs, because, by design, it encapsulates those used in a virtual machine, and these APIs are far too many.
But, the Palm OS APIs can all be accessed through the use of "PP applets". This requires to learn another Palm hosted development language, Pascal, but it is especially convenient for all specific needs. To sum up: develop quickly the 90% standard with iziBasic and add the 10% specific with a "PP applet".
Cheers

Thanks, I understand. Hm, do you know where I can find a Pascal User's Guide, and perhaps a Pascal primer? I think I have to get my hands dirty. :)

Peter,
I remember that this question was asked some time ago on the PP forum and that a link to a great Pascal primer guide was proposed. Everything related to PP and Pascal should be asked/seen there.
Tell me if you need soap to wash your hands
