This game is great, but I think that it would be great it it were converted to become a civilization-like game. That'd be awesome! |

Hello DoctorBri,
You must be reading in my mind!
I am currently thinking of such kind of a project, and I am thinking of it since a few weeks now!
Not a real Civilization kind of game, as already exists the great Kingdom game from my friend Greg Babineau that you can find here: http://www.grogsoft.com => HIGHLY recommended
So, a Civilization-like game is more likely to araise someday. And I will design it in iziBasic, because of the quicker development lead-time

Sorry, I forgot to ask: would you be ready to dedicate some time in this project as a beta tester? (not to be expected before a few month though...)

I see that this thread is from 3 years ago... lol but I want to bring it back up because it is a great idea. I bought kingdom, and have been waiting for the new version for 3 years now, but it has never come out. I'm guessing from the lack of change in the homepage that he just gave up on programming... I was really looking forward to that update too :(. I would love it if you would make a real clone of civilization, pretty much just making kingdom and including the features the update would have had. I doubt my developing skills would be very useful, but I offer that and my time for testing if you would make the game. |

Hello Nate,
As you could see, I gave up on this project. This was because I wanted to focus on enhancing iziBasic, on developing ViziBasic, and a few other projects I made since then.
But now that you are almost a senior iziBasic developer, you might want to go for it...
Cheers, aldweb

In my last reply, I said I'm interested in making a civ clone... and I'm already getting closer to the point where I can start. I have a few ideas to go on, I am still a noob in the izibasic department so I will probably need tutoring during the process, but I want to start as soon as possible. Search for civ clone and you will find that this other guy is writing a civ clone in C, he's actually doing a great job too. He's really friendly and is willing to help me with my civ with tips, the math problems involved in attacks and stuff, etc. I am not hiding my email address, because I would like ppl to help on this project. Just email if you are interested in helping me with this.
Here's the game plan:
get math problems from Sean(the other civ developer) find ppl who want to help
To keep things simple, I will start with a text civ that uses civ as a guidline. This will be good practice and experience for when I can use resource files, and know how to get a screen with the proper images etc. going. Thanks! |

Hello Nate,
Thank you! Because I was left with the idea that Shawn's Pocket Civ project had been abandoned after its version 1 release back in 2002, which was just a first non playable version. And 3 years after, version 2 showned up, and Pocket Civ is now really playable and enjoyable in its current version 11, after several regular releases.
For those willing to see this Pocket Civ implementation, it is to be found here: http://pocketciv.radioxy.com/
Cheers, aldweb
