Hello,

Is there an easy way to edit a data or text file with the PC-E500 ?
I try to open the file in TEXT mode but the PC wait for line numbers.

 TRED is a text file editor for PC-E500 computers serie. It may be downloaded at this adress

This is a LM software. Installing it may look difficult to a newby. Here is my way to do it :

* you'll find every needed tools at this adress

http://info.curtin.edu.au:8080/~iwoodsa/pce500/uudecode.zip

* install COMMAND.BAS on the E500. This is a kind of mini Shell.

* reserve memory:

by typing TPA on COMMAND.BAS shell, or entering Basic: poke &bfe03,&1a,&fd,&b,0,&64,0:call &fffd8

* download and execute UUDECODE.UU on the E500.

This is a UUENCODE file format decoder for PC-E500. The file is a Basic self-installer program (you may have to correct the target filename before running it)

* encode TRED executable with UUENCODE

... before loading it on the E500 (UUENCODE is an unix command but you may find a port for your home computer OS). Name the resulted file TRED.UU

* download and decode TRED.UU

... by typing UUDECODE "COM:"
on the E500 then transmitting TRED.UU

* That's all

To use TRED (on COMMAND.BAS) : "TRED HELLO.TXT"
