Cosmetically, the displays are the same, so if it is the last hope to repair your 1430, try it and let us know if it works. Nevertheless, the PC 1401 is a far better machine than the 1430, so if possible you should try to repair the 1401 with the parts of the 1430 instead. All the best Pierre |

Am I wrong or the only differences between the PC-1401 and the PC-1430 are the ROM and RAM sizes?
RAM --- PC-1401 = 4 Kb (3,534 bytes available) PC-1430 = 2 Kb (1,239 bytes available) => that is no big deal
ROM --- PC-1401 = 40 Kb PC-1430 = 18 Kb => what's more in the PC-1401? Only the extended calculator capabilities? Then, I'd rather choose the PC-1430 too except it has a much too little RAM. Better get a PC-1360 my friend
See you, aldweb |

Hello, The 1401 have more mathematical functions than the 1430 : hyp, archyp, hex, dec, rec/pol and xy statistical. This is for the differences in ROM. 1401 have a 8 bit processor and 1430 a 4 bit processor. 1430 don't have peek, poke and call so is impossible (or at least very difficult) to program in machine language. I've got a 1430 also and 2kb Ram is very short for a basic computer. If I had a choice to do between 1401 and 1430 I will chose the former. All the best Pierre
