Hi all.
I just got a Sharp PC-1401 and I like it a lot. Basic was never that much fun as when you code on a device you can hold in your palm :) I also have a TI-85 and have tried to program it when i was bored, but it was way too cumbersome to find the commands in the catalog or type them letter by letter. However, I can see now just how advanced these graphing calcs are compared to the oldies like my Sharp. I'd like to learn how to use the PC-1401 to its full potential, but along with the computer (which btw I got for free from one of my teachers who had long since abandoned it and now has a Casio :) ) I didn't get a manual. So,if any of you know of any manual online, please let me know.

 Just my luck, the link to the English manual didn't work, but I found a manual for the TRS 80 PC2 looking on yahoo.
I think the TRS 80 PC2 is analog to the Sharp 1260, but I am not sure. I am confused, because this model seems more powerful than my Sharp PC 1401 (has RAM/ROM expansion slots, better display, some BASIC commands the 1401 lacks), but its calculator has fewer keys and seems to lack the statistical functions that the PC 1401 has. Can anyone clarify the differences between the 2 models, please?

 Hello Mike,
The TRS80 PC2 was a clone of the Sharp PC-1500. The PC-1500 (and after the 1600) was Sharp's attempt to match as closely as possible a big PC with a pocket computer. The PC-1500 and 1600 have more expansion possibilities and more peripherals than other pockets, and they are the only ones to have timing function. They also have a different processor so machine language written for other Sharp's pocket will not work on them.
Nevertheless basic programming is the same for most pocket, with only slight differences. The advantage of the PC-1401 is to have readily available scientific functions, so if you make extensive use of math in your programms, the PC-1401 will be easier to use. Another advantage is that the 1401 is far less bulky than the 1500 and has a lower comsumption (the 1500 use four AA batteries).
