active  Topic # 1666  Radar screen simulation

I have been trying to figure out how to make a realistic looking radar screen.

Its easy to make a line rotate in a circle, like an analog watch.  What I would like it to do is to leave a trail behind it, that fades out just like a radar screen:

The leading edge is bright green, then the trail fades into the black background.

Can anyone show me how to do this?

Hello,

Maybe draw ahead of your radar line some other lines with progressive darker green colors that slightly fade to the black backcolor?

Cheers,

This is how I have the line rotating.

FOR w=1 to 20 step 0.003

x=COS(w)*70+80

y=SIN(w)*70+80

LINE 80,80 TO x,y

CLS

NEXT

Now, just as suggested above, I would like to draw about 20 more lines, following this one, each a shade darker than the previous.

I think this could be done using Arrays. However I don't know how the code would be written for that.

Can anyone help?

Is there perhaps a tutorial on Arrays, that shows how to do this?

No array needed, maybe just something like:

FOR w=1 to 20 step 0.003
t=w-20*0.003
FOR z=t to w step 0.003
x=COS(z)*70+80
y=SIN(z)*70+80
LINE 80,80 TO x,y
CLS
