active  Topic # 1585  I release Reflexez

I made my first program, a simple reflexes game. The program picks a random number as your target, then a second number starts going up. Each round in the loop, it picks a random number between 0 and 50 and increments "your" number by that amount. The goal is to stop "your" number as close to the target number as possible, by clicking stop. The game also includes an exit button, and a play again button that only works after a game over. I will put it on Palmgear.com, hopefully freewarepalm.com, and on my website which you can find a link to by going to freewarepalm.com, searching for BASIC Battle, and clicking on the link there. Thanks!

Hello Nate,

Good news, you succeeded!
Now that the first step was made, I am pretty sure that you will soon deliver wonderful applications.

Please let us know the URLs where we will find Reflexez. I always love to play with what iziBasic so creative developpers succeed to build with my compiler!

Cheers,
aldweb

I already did... palmgear and hopefully freeware palm. It's not up at either one yet but I have sent it in to palmgear and will soon for freeware, though I have been having trouble getting stuff into freeware for some reason.

Hello Nate,

Thank you for good news.
Please teach an address of your website.
Will Reflexez be put there?
You must wait for Palmgear.com and FreewarePalm a little till it is shown after sending application.
It is short time.
But, it is very long time for me.
I am glad if I can come across your application slightly early.
Thank you.

Hello Nate,

Your website is very cool.
http://web.mac.com/lipton_lover/Site_2/Just_For_Fun.html
I found REFLEXES.
It was a simple game.
It is splendid to have completed application by short time since you purchase it.

There is the suggestion of the version up.
1. Add an original icon to application.
2. Count the play number of times and total score. Give a mean score.
As for the score, is less one excellent?
3. Stop the on and off light of the button.
Do not you put a "BUTTON" statement in a loop?
Etc.

Thank you for showing application.

1. I have, but I haven't updated it on the internet yet, just on my palm.
2. I am working on improving the score interface, gotta say it in a message etc.
3. I don't have any light for any button I have no clue what you mean
4. I just go through my button setup every time around. This has some advantages for certain games, but that means I can't make the play button dissapear. I might change that. Thanks for trying it!

Hello Nate,

I advise about the BUTTON a little.

HIDE
Hide a button.

SHOW
Display a button.

I give the BUTTON statement outside a main loop.
A button does not do a blink.

Ok so if I understand you correctly, the buttons flicker on your palm. I know about hide and show, and I don't know whats wrong with your buttons because I don't have that problem on my palm. And I wanted to find a way around using show every time around because it's easier to just use the GUI subroutine that they give you every time around. Thanks for the input! Look for a new version of it soon.

The advice about not using a BUTTON statement in a loop, but using the SHOW and HIDE statements is very wise.

Indeed, when you use the BUTTON statement, iziBasic will check if the BUTTON ID already exists, if so it will destroy it (relasing allocated memory to it), and then it will build a brand new button with the new characteristics (realocating a memory space). This is slow compared to HIDE and SHOW which keep the button resource up and just adapt the screen to display it or not.

Cheers,

Hello Nate,

I am anxious.
The speed of my palm device may be slow than you think.
With your device, does not a button do a blink?
Possibly the speed of the game may be slow, too.
In a game, my device takes about 15 seconds till my device exceed 2000.
Did you expect this time?
I want to know how you built a wait routine.
Whether it will be FOR~NEXT or REPEAT~UNTIL?
I suggest to use TICKS and TICKSPERSEC if so.
