active  Topic # 1304  Question about POPUPCHOICE

The following is a fragment from a program. I get a syntax error in the POPUPCHOICE statement and I don't understand why.
A$(27)="Daily"
A$(28)="2x Per Day"
A$(29)="3x Per Day"
A$(30)=""
POPUPCHOICE #102,1,A$(27),3,118,100,40,30
As an extension to isiBasic, I'd suggest a simple choice list without the popup. Sometimes it's more useful to show the choices on the display all the time even though it takes up screen real estate.

I believe lists were mentioned before... will those be available in izibasic soon? That's yet another feature I'd love :)

like in bird, the list that you use to choose a file to open. A box that lists a bunch of stuff like a popupchoice except its always popped up basically.

I forgot to mention a small bug with vizibasic...
when creating a graphic object it asks that you give it a unique ID. But since I also handwrite most of my code, I know that the actual code does not require/accept an ID for graphics like lines, squares, etc.. So why does vizibasic ask for one?

Come on, you should know there is no bug left in my work...

when creating a graphic object it asks that you give it a unique ID. But since I also handwrite most of my code, I know that the actual code does not require/accept an ID for graphics like lines, squares, etc..

This is right and you are smart to have noticed it

So why does vizibasic ask for one?

Because ViziBasic needs to know in what order all objects and graphics should be drawn (do you want a filled square be drawn on top of a button or behind it?). So, this unique ID is used as is for objects which require one and as a sequence index for all objects and graphics. You will see the result of this use when you redraw the window from time to time.
I believed that it was smarter and easier to use one information for both uses instead of using two which could be more confusing...

Cheers,

ok that makes sense :) so its just for the order the code is generated in.
