Hello Palmipod,

I was under discussion a few weeks ago with another hobbyist developper to provide with a desktop version.
Our idea was: write your program once, compile for Palm or Windows, get the same resulting software running in a Palm device or a Windows PC.

Unfortunately, this developper seems to have disappeared from the web, because of issues he had with his former compiler development (I think that he was exhausted because of being stolen his original software by a 3rd party guy).

But the good idea remains!

Other improvements for iziBasic could be some GUI IDE that would provide with the right iziBasic skeleton code (a little bit like your MiniSkull for PP).

I am open to all volunteers willing to join

I actually would like a command line version instead of a visual IDE. That way, it would be very easy to port to DOS, Windows, Linux, BSD (or your favourite Unix) and Mac OS X (my operating system of choice), and could easily be integrated with the tools we already have. Plua does this already with pluac, although the source is not available for compilation on other platforms (yet).

Providing a command line version of iziBasic.PRC would be very easy... if I build it to run in a Palm device, not Windows, Dos, Linux, BSD or Mac OS!

Is that your wish C.K.?
Or do you ask me to be an iziBasic.exe command line for Dos/Windows?

Cheers,

I'm asking about a cross-compiler, basically, that could run on our OS of choice, and then we could export the .prc to our Palm.

In my case, I'd be happy to help port such a command line tool to Mac OS X and BSD if it were possible to provide one.

Well, this was not yet in my to do list!

And, it is not really needed by the way.
Let me tell you how you can still work from a Windows PC (and maybe a Mac OS X?) very easily:

1st way, using a PC DOC editor:
1. as a source code editor, you may use a DOC editor like TL-PDB for PC (http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/tl-pdb.shtml) which generates DOC files
2. you drag & drop this DOC file to POSE (the Palm Emulator)
3. you compile in POSE
4. you export the PRC from POSE to your hard disk

2nd way, working in POSE:
1. you key in your source code in any Palm DOC editor in POSE. This work is eased by the fact that POSE answers to the keyboard of your PC
2. you compile in POSE
3. you export both the PDB of the source code and the compiled PRC to your hard disk

Cheers,

No, I know that process (I used that extensively with Plua -- even though there's a Pluac, it's only for Linux/x86, so it wouldn't work on my Mac). It's just handy to have a cross-compilation tool is all.

The first approach is what I'm planning to use with iziBASIC, since I already used it with Plua.
