Sharp Pocket Computer 1360

The survival of one "ancestral" Pocket Computer

Here is what this Pocket Computer looks like

I own a Sharp PC-1360 since the early 90's and I always have kept working with it since then. It is one of the precursors of the current Handheld PCs and palmtops. It integrates many very interesting features : 8 bit processor (that's old fashioned, isn't it?), a real display of 24 x 4 characters or 150 x 32 pixels (one of the only models among the Sharp PCs of that time), a built in Basic interpreter and a real machine language. So, in such a small PC, you find yourself with a real computer, but since it is smaller you can much faster understand the real way a computer works... and that is where fun begins !

And now, my own work :

The Sharp PC-1360 Fan Club

The aldweb Site is an active member of the Sharp PC-1360 Fan Club which currently has 2 members : Simon and myself. One important point to notice is that Simon is German and I am French. We never met, only by e-mail, but since we share the same passion for the Sharp PC-1360, we have found to really share our experience and our know-how on this PC so easily that I really wanted to focus on this aspect in this page. By the way, I would like to thank Simon for the great help he brought me in differents aspects : occasionaly a serial cable, but mainly his site was on the Internet much before mine and it is when I found his site that I decided to reactivate the old project of setting up these pages on my own site.

So, if you are interested in the Sharp PC-1360, you just have to make a jump to "its twin" on Simon's site, the Sharp PC-1360 Web site of my friend Simon.

Merci beaucoup,

Merci beaucoup
